Outdoor Pavilion
Our Outdoor Pavilion is the perfect space for your birthday party, wedding reception, baby shower, family reunion, or office potluck. We have a covered patio area surrounded by beautiful plantings, two standard picnic tables, two children’s picnic tables, and a nature-inspired seating area featuring large, flat logs on bark chips.

Meeting Room
Our Meeting Room offers a quiet, professional space for support groups, board meetings, rehearsals, and classes. It’s also ideal for crafting or sewing circles, book clubs, and small parties. Our wooden tables and comfortable chairs seat 16, but additional seating can be brought in to meet your group’s needs.

Studio
Our newly revamped tumbling studio is the ultimate indoor birthday party destination! Kids will love to climb, tumble, balance, swing and bounce in a space designed just for them. Book a birthday party now!

Gym
Our gym is a neighborhood treasure, featuring a basketball court with standard-height hoops. Rent our gym for sports events, team practices, children’s parties, dances, wedding receptions, award ceremonies, or large events of any kind. Tables and chairs can be set up in the gym. Please note that our gym is on the 2nd floor of our building, with stair access only.

Lobby
Our beautiful lobby features comfortable furniture surrounding a gas fireplace, two large wooden tables with chairs, and a bar area. This is the perfect space to gather for adult birthdays, anniversaries, baby and bridal showers, memorials, or any other occasion that calls for a gathering space that feels like your home away from home.

Kitchen
Our beautifully renovated kitchen is equipped with a sink, stove, prep island, refrigerator, microwave, industrial dishwasher, chest freezer, and industrial coffee maker. The kitchen can be rented separately, or added on to the rental of another space.

Capacity: 12-15 (seated), 30 (standing room)

Does your event require more than one room? Let us know what you need and we will provide pricing. You can also rent the entire building for your exclusive use! Our full building rental fee is $400/hour.

A building host will be here to greet you when you arrive. You are responsible for setting up your space, so please book enough time to complete your set-up before guests arrive. We will provide tables and chairs for your use. We have ten 5-foot round tables, six 6-foot rectangular tables, 50 wooden event chairs with ivory seats, and many black metal folding chairs. After your event, there will be a simple cleaning checklist for you to complete.

All of our common spaces, including the Gym, Pavilion, Studio, Meeting Room, Lobby, and Kitchen, are available on Saturdays and Sundays between 9 am and 9 pm, as our staffing and programming allows, with limited availability on weeknights from 6-9 pm. Our Meeting Room also has limited weekday hours available. Send an inquiry and we’ll check our calendar!

Sorry, no. We are located in a residential neighborhood, and out of respect for our neighbors, and to comply with the City of Portland noise ordinance, all events must end by 9 pm. You may remain in the building until 10 pm to complete your clean-up.

Of course! Just don’t damage our walls. Also, we do not allow open flames of any kind. (But we’ll make an exception for the candles on your birthday cake!)

Bring it! You can bring homemade food or use the caterer of your choice. You must provide your own dishes, napkins, and serving utensils. If you anticipate that you will need space in our refrigerator or freezer, please let us know in advance.

Yes! However, you must provide additional liability insurance, which you can purchase online or from your own insurance company. Specific details are provided in your rental agreement.

We have street parking only. You may park directly in front of our building to load and unload.

We are working on it. There is an ADA entrance on SE 15th Ave. From that entrance, there are two steps down to our main floor bathrooms and kitchen. Our upstairs is not accessible.

We do not offer a discount to every nonprofit organization, for every type of event. If you are interested in holding a fundraising event here for your nonprofit organization, please submit a rental inquiry. In the comments, tell us about your mission and the community you serve. We are able to extend a discount to a select number of organizations per year.

Please submit an inquiry and we will get back to you as soon as possible! Your day and time will be reserved on our calendar as soon as you sign a rental agreement and either pay in full or put down a 50% deposit.

Yes! You must cancel your reservation within 30 days for a full refund. If you cancel within ten days, we can work with you to reschedule. With less than ten days notice, there is no refund offered.

No. We do not rent to individuals or organizations for the purpose of earning a profit in our space. If you have a service to offer that would be a good fit for our community, please reach out to inquire about becoming part of our SCH programming.

Yes! If you have an on-going need for space, such as a weekly team practice or a monthly meeting, let us know when you submit your inquiry. We will do our best to accommodate you.

No. We have no office space available.

We do not rent our classrooms. Please see if one of our public spaces will meet your needs.

Yes! We are are happy to offer space free of charge for support groups, scouting groups, community service groups, etc. Your program must be free to participants and align with the mission and values of the Sellwood Community House in order to qualify. We will not be able to accommodate every group, but you are welcome to inquire!

Yes! However, we only offer on-going rentals for teams needing practice space, and our gym slots are very limited. We do have $8 drop-in basketball (21+) on Tuesdays from 6-9 pm, and $3 kids and family drop-in basketball on Thursdays from 6-7:30. You are welcome to inquire about one-time rentals for a private game.
