-
We know how hungry kids are after school! That’s why a nutritious daily snack, served with water, milk, and fruit, is included with your registration. A monthly snack calendar is sent out in advance, so families with food sensitivities and allergies can plan ahead if our snack does not meet your child’s dietary needs. Please note that we do not serve nuts, but we do not have a completely nut-free kitchen.
-
All of our after-school staff are first aid, CPR, and AED certified. Staff 18+ are part of the Early Learning Division’s Central Background Registry and participate in fingerprinting and an extensive background check. Staff younger than 18 are also background-checked.
-
We maintain a 1:15 ratio (1 staff member to every 15 kids)
-
We offer space for up to 80 students to be enrolled in our program each day. Students are divided into different classrooms (enrichments) to have a smaller, welcoming environment and explore their own interests with a trusted instructor.
-
Our reading club is a volunteer-led activity that many of our after school kids love! Participation in the reading club is optional. We have a large collection of books for all reading levels, and our reading volunteer coordinator takes trips to the library to add more on a regular basis. All reading volunteers are background-checked.
If you would like to be a reading club volunteer, please contact Leigh at Leigh@sellwoodcommunityhouse.org.
We love when parents, grandparents, and other community members want to come read with our after-school kids!
-
Yes! These programs are open to everyone, whether or not your child is enrolled in our after school program.
-
No. We are no longer offering NSD coupons.
-
We will not provide regular ASE programming on early release days, and these days have not been factored into your tuition. Limited space is available for childcare on these days. You must complete a separate registration to sign up.
-
We calculate the full cost of the program for a full school year, and then divide it into ten equal installments, September through June. Even though June is a shorter month, your tuition payment will remain the same. This allows us to keep our budget and payroll consistent, and it keeps your monthly payments lower throughout the year.
